The Brussels 1958 Universal and International Exhibition was officially opened on April 17, 1958 after five years of intense planning and preparation. The exhibition ground occupied some 500 acres in Heysel Park near Brussels. The grounds were divided into six sections (1) Belgium section, (2) Foreign sections, (3) Pleasure Gardens, (4) Belgium in 1900, (5) Belgium Congo and Ruanda Urundi section and (6) the international organizations.
